New air connection with Barcelona

We have welcomed an aircraft from the Spanish low-cost air carrier Clickair for the first time. Overall Aerodrom Ljubljana ended the first half of 2008 with thenumber of passengers up by 15.8% compared to the first half of last year.

Clickair will fly to the Barcelona airport El Prat every Monday and Friday until 15 September. Prices for a one-way ticket start at 55 euros, including all taxes and charges. They can be reserved on the website www.clickair.com or via travel agents. There is a high level of demand for connections to the Iberian peninsula, so we expect the flights to be popular. Clickair is also satisfied with reservations made so far. It plans to carry around 7,000 passengers on the new Ljubljana-Barcelona route.
Clickair is the most punctual air carrier in Europe. It was established two years ago and has a fleet of 24 Airbus A-320 aircraft currently flying to 50 destinations in Spain, the UK and Ireland, Central Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Last year it carried 4.5 million passengers, and this year expects that number to reach 7 million.
The Spanish air carrier is the 11th scheduled air carrier (the second low-cost carrier) to join the network of direct flights from Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. The airport has scheduled connections with 31 cities around Europe, including all the major European air hubs; the busiest lines are the routes to London, Paris and Frankfurt. Scheduled flights are supplemented by a wide range of charter flights; there will be 26 this summer. The most popular charter flight destinations are the Greek islands, Egypt, and Djerbo, while a new destination garnering considerable interest this summer is Ibiza.
Passenger data indicates that traffic grew above the anticipated rate in the first half of the year. We served almost 16% more passengers and 5% more aircraft. A rapid rise has also been recorded in the general aviation sector, with 64% more passengers than in the first half of 2007, due largely to the period coinciding with Slovenias presidency of the European Union.
