Second phase of runway renovation
From midnight on 01 July the instrument landing system at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, used for conditions of reduced visibility, is temporarily disabled. We do not anticipate inconvenience for passengers, despite the fact that it can, in thick fog, lead to delays or the rerouting of flights to neighbouring airports.
As part of refurbishment work on the runway, we partly disabled the instrument landing system (ILS), used for landing aircraft in conditions of reduced visibility, for approximately 16 days. Fog, which is a very rare occurrence at this time of year at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, can lead to delays or the rerouting of flights to neighbouring airports. Aerodrom Ljubljana, which manages the airport, would like to offer its apologies to passengers and to thank them for their patience.
The reason for the partial disabling of the ILS is the refurbishment of the runway, which is divided into three phases. We concluded first phase on 23 June. The second phase will last until 15 July. The third phase will take place in the second quarter of next year. The runway will be shortened but the safety of air traffic will not be endangered.
