Spreading the word about Slovenia around the globe

On 8 February we began a new book crossing project at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. Two points in the passenger terminal were outfitted with racks where passengers will be able to find books about Slovenia and other Slovenian literature in Slovene and English. The purpose of the project is to spread the word around the globe about Slovenia as a beautiful country, and at the same time to encourage the habit of reading among passengers. The majority of books have an ID code by which their journey around the world can be tracked on the www.bookcrossing.com website.

We should mention the project will be upgraded further in the coming days. Some of the aforementioned books, which are sponsored by SPIRIT and Učila International, will be brought to the world by well-known figures in Slovenia. A book about Slovenia was also presented to the new US ambassador, His Excellency Brent R Hartley, and his wife Elizabeth H Dickinson on their arrival at the airport, to wish them a pleasant stay in Slovenia.
