Turkish Airlines now flying twice a day to Istanbul

Beginning on 31 May, Turkish Airlines is increasing its service between Ljubljana and Istanbul. Passengers will now have the choice of two departures a day from Brnik (compared to the 12 flights a week currently offered by the airline). This year the Turkish flag carrier celebrates 10 years of flying to Slovenia. Over the last decade it has carried around half a million passengers between Slovenia and Turkey. To mark the occasion, we held a small celebration at the airport for passengers and performed a water salute for a Turkish Airlines aircraft.

On 31 May Turkish Airlines is set to increase the frequency of its flights between Ljubljana and Istanbul. Under the airline's new timetable, passengers will be able to choose between two daily departures to Istanbul, compared to the 12 flights per week currently available.

At Ljubljana Airport we marked the announced increase in the number of flights and the airline's important anniversary with a water salute for an arriving Turkish Airlines aircraft and a small ceremony. Passengers disembarking from the aircraft were treated to a surprise performance by the Kamnik Folkdance Group and, after collecting their baggage, a sweet surprise in the colours of Turkish Airlines.

"Ten years ago Turkish Airlines began flying to Ljubljana three times a week. Since then it has continued to expand and improve its service. Turkish Airlines is without a doubt one of Aerodrom Ljubljana's most reliable partners, and one that has contributed a great deal to the airport's competitiveness. Sincere thanks for this excellent cooperation and congratulations on your anniversary!" With these words Aerodrom Ljubljana's managing director Zmago Skobir commented on this special anniversary.

Nesih Gümüş, director of Turkish Airlines' Slovenia office, added: "Our services are particularly attractive to business travellers and tourists travelling to Asia, since Turkish Airlines has good connections with the Middle East and Far East and with the USA. The number of these passengers is growing from year to year. We also place considerable emphasis on promoting Slovenia in foreign markets and on persuading tourists who wish to visit Slovenia to choose our flights."

"Since we entered the Slovenian market, flights from Ljubljana have led to closer connections between Slovenia and Turkey in the fields of tourism, culture and the economy. This is an achievement of which we are rightly proud. Ljubljana has become the departure or stopover point for passengers travelling to 292 destinations in the 115 countries around the world served by Turkish Airlines, and this year the airline has won the prestigious Best Airline in Europe award for the fifth year running. We also won in the Best Business Class Lounge Dining category. The increase in the number of weekly flights from Ljubljana from three in 2006 to 14 this year, and the significant drop in waiting times thanks to better connections, are a good indication that we are working well, and at the same time an obligation to continue to achieve excellence at all levels of our operations." – Ziya Taşkent, Turkish Airlines Senior Vice-President responsible for the Middle East, Central, Southern and Eastern Europe and the Caucasus Region.
Passengers departing from Ljubljana can fly anywhere in the world with Turkish Airlines, via Istanbul. Promotional fares are frequently available. To mark this year's jubilee, the airline has prepared a wide range of special offer flights. Check them out at www.flyljubljana.si, where every week you will also find fresh promotions from other carriers operating from Ljubljana Airport.
