easyJet adds more flights to Slovenia

The range of low-cost flights on offer at Ljubljana Airport is growing. easyJet now flies four times a week to London Gatwick, complementing its well-established connection to London Stansted. In terms of the number of passengers, London is the leading destination from Ljubljana Airport.

On Monday at 7:50 in the evening the first easyJet aircraft to fly in from London Gatwick arrived at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. From 5 December the British low-cost airline will provide this service four times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Flights are on sale at easyjet.com with fares starting from as little as EUR 43* one way per person. This is in addition to the well-established connection to London Stansted, where they fly every day in the winter.

easyJet made its first flight to the Slovenian market on 28 April 2004. To begin with they flew between Stansted and Ljubljana four times a week, then their volume of business increased continuously. easyJet has contributed significantly to establishing Slovenia as an air tourism destination, with more foreign visitors flying with them to this country each year. From the beginning to the present day they have completed 9,748 operations at our airport (take-offs and landings) and their aircraft have carried 1,274,399 passengers to and from Slovenia.

In the winter timetable, the airport at Brnik has connections to three London airports on 15 flights, and in terms of passenger numbers London is the leading destination from Ljubljana airport. It is followed by Frankfurt and Istanbul.

In addition to easyJet, Ljubljana is served by budget flights with Wizz Air, offering connections to London Luton and Brussels Charleroi. Currently 14.2 percent of passengers using Ljubljana airport are budget airline customers. And there will be more budget services offered next year. Dutch low-cost airline Transavia is planning to fly three times a week to Amsterdam (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) from 4 April 2017. This means that three low-cost airlines will now be offering passengers at least 20 flights a week from Ljubljana.
