Malév is the number one on-time airline

The Association of European Airlines (AEA) has rated the Hungarian airline Malév as offering the most on-time service among its members.

According to information for the first quarter of 2006, on-time service among the 27 member airlines of the AEA stood at 97.7 percent, and a full 79.3 percent of all takeoffs and landings took place within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. The airline with the most on-time service was Malév, which has offered daily flights between Ljubljana and Budapest since Slovenias accession to the EU.

Malév recently concluded a project on changing classes of travel, thus overcoming one of the last major obstacles for membership in the oneworld airline alliance. The airline has already signed its declaration of intent to join and is expected to become a full member at the beginning of 2007. This will represent a great achievement for Malév, Ljubljana Airport and passengers as well as for the oneworld alliance because Málev will be the only airline in the alliance serving western Europe and also the only member that flies to Slovenia.

In 2005 Malév registered over 13,000 passengers at Ljubljana Airport, and 3,000 passengers in the first quarter of 2006. Malév offers flights to Budapest and back twice a day with 33- and 50-seat Saab aircraft. The airlines flight network covers practically all of Europe. There are especially good connections from Ljubljana via Budapest to eastern European destinations such as Kyiv, Sophia, Bucharest, Odesa and Cluj-Napoca. Malév offers several more distant destinations, included Cairo, Beirut, Toronto and New York, as well as a number of summer holiday destinations, including Athens, Larnaca, Varna and Burgas.
