Airport development and Airport City
Ljubljana Airport is the main Slovenian international gateway and one of the leading airports in the region with a catchment area of more than 4 million inhabitants. It connects the Balkan region with Western and Central Europe. With its continuous growth Ljubljana Airport is becoming an important regional travel, distribution and logistics center.
The offer of flight connections and traffic numbers at Ljubljana Airport are increacing strongly in the last years; we are experiencing the highest growth among airports in the region. In 2018 we recorded almost 8% higher number of passengers, the year before the increase was 20 %. Ljubljana Airport infrastructure has been developing in line with its traffic and will continue to do so in the future.

The new bypass road enabling expansion and better access
The new airport bypass road was opened in 2017. The purpose of the investment in relocating the main Kranj – Spodnji Brnik road was to facilitate the airport’s development through its urgently needed expansion, and provide traffic safety and better access to the airport. The investment covered the construction of a new main road with roundabouts, diversion of the local road to Cerklje, appropriate arrangement of the service road for transport links to all areas of the airport complex and arrangement of the area of the junction to the military part of the airport. The road section in the length of 2.4 km including three roundabouts will provide first class access to the terminal and the airport city.
