Our environmental policy follows the principles of sustainable development and sets out the environmental commitments and strategic objectives:
take measures to reduce aviation noise and noise from other sources,
reduce carbon dioxide emissions and other greenhouse gases,
encourage efficient use of energy, water and paper resources,
take measures to prevent pollution,
introduce waste management best practices,
preserve biodiversity and valuable natural features,
limit pollution and soil degradation,
include environmental guidelines in processes related to public procurement,
encourage responsible and appropriate behaviour by educating, informing and raising the awareness of all employees regarding aspects of their jobs related to the environment,
provide training to all people who might cause significant environmental impacts,
introduce the environmental policy to contractors, business partners and other people who work for the company or on its behalf,
meet the conditions required by environmental legislation and other requirements,
acquire other quality standards for the environment,
provide human and financial resources for the environmental management system and related measures,
promote transparency, communication and dialogue with interested parties and the general public.
In line with the integrated governance system policy, environmental commitments, legal and other requirements, we have defined certain strategic objectives as a part of the company's sustainability strategy. The main strategic objectives for primary environmental areas by the end of 2025 are:
Environmental Management System
Maintaining of a documented environmental management system (ISO 14001).
Control of noise at a level that allows the population of neighbouring municipalities to improve their quality of life.
Transition to a low carbon society
Carbon neutrality – Airport Carbon Accreditation.
Waste management system
Reducing the share of mixed municipal waste to 25% in the total amount of waste.
Reduction and replacement of environmentally harmful energy sources (fuel oil, petrol and diesel fuel, electricity produced in thermal power plants) wiith environmentally more acceptable ones (natural gas, renewable energy sources).
Renewable energy sources
Increasing the proportion of renewable energy sources (hydro, geothermal, solar and wind energy, biomass, biogas).
