More than 15,000 Airport Stars made happy
A record number of passengers, more than 1.8 million, passed through Ljubljana Airport in 2018. Fraport Slovenija wanted to celebrate this milestone together with the ones, who helped achieve that – its employees, business partners and Ljubljana Airport passengers. Therefore we prepared a special communication campaign and a handful of activities to address and involve all the Airport Stars and thank them for their contribution.
We have prepared events, treats and gifts for our passengers to make them feel special, like true Airport Stars. In December we have asked those masters of gift-giving, Santa Claus and his little helpers, to help us spread some good cheer around the airport. The elves were busy delighting passengers with priority passage through security checks, free entry into the business lounge or hand-pampering in the L’Occitane boutique. They were spoiling all the Airport Stars with festive biscuits and glasses of champagne. In the international area of the terminal we were entertaining them on a handful of activities. With the help of a machine for easy mixing different genres of music, passengers could create their own tunes and have them sent to their devices, or test their skills on a big-screen aircraft game. A special experience was created by an artist on hand, who sketched caricatures of passengers as they waited for their flight. As a unique memory of the airport experience they could take the finished caricature with them aboard in a handy gift packaging.
All the happening was caught on video, which we premiered on our social media and played also on our website and airport LCD displays.
The decorations in the passenger terminal have also added to the holiday spirit, with huge stars in festive colours accompanying travellers in all parts of the terminal. Climbing towards the second floor of the airside part of the terminal, the entire ceiling gives the impression of a starry sky. Passengers and visitors could notice the messages of the campaign on advertising surfaces and other media.
To make its employees feel like true stars, Fraport Slovenija organized for them a new year's party full of exceptional experiences. They were photographed arriving on the red carpet and celebrated the record with a midnight cake. In December we surprised them with Santa's filming team to discover, who among them the biggest Airport Star is. The best reactions were caught on video, which was premiered on the NY's party.
A star themed printed and e-greeting card was prepared to thank our business partners. They were pampered with champagne and home-baked cookies, at their premises we also surprised them with starry sweet cake-pops.
We continued to celebrate the record year in the beginning of 2019. For our followers on social media and website users we prepared a prize winning game and invited them in the company of basketball superstars Goran Dragić and Luka Dončić. More than 7,800 users wanted to take off from Ljubljana to Miami to see the first NBA face-off of the two sports aces.
Altogether the campaign reached more than 500.000 views. We made more than 15.000 Airport Stars happy with a unique experience and in this way thanked them for helping us achieve a record year.
