Covid-19 testing now available at Ljubljana Airport
Covid-19 swabs available to all passengers and members of the general public. Results are provided in up to six hours.
Proof of a negative Covid-19 test is currently a condition for entering or avoiding quarantine in many countries. By opening a Covid-19 test site, Ljubljana Airport is introducing an additional service for airline passengers and taking an active approach to resolving the current problem of the dramatic decrease in air traffic around the world. With stricter measures and restrictions on movement being introduced all over Europe, the number of flights has decreased considerably, and the current indications are that travellers are travelling only for business, study or to visit family.
The global aviation industry is trying to establish a less restricted approach to mobility, where the focus remains on ensuring the health of passengers and employees and on uniform healthcare standards and protocols. Following the model of various airports around the world, by establishing this test site Ljubljana Airport is joining in these efforts and adding to the range of current measures and activities designed to limit the spread of the SARS CoV-2 virus.
Both PCR tests and antigen rapid tests are performed, which are valid for crossing the border to Slovenia. Read more here.
Zmago Skobir, Managing Director of Fraport Slovenija: “The epidemic has very strongly affected the aviation industry all over the world. The direct and collateral damage incurred is immeasurable. We see the possibility of testing immediately after arrival at the airport or just prior to boarding the plane as an opportunity that could reverse the current uncertainty and trend of resistance to travel. Setting up this test site at our airport gives us hope that air traffic will recover more quickly and that the public trust that flying is still a safe and reliable means of transportation will return.”
Covid-19 testing at Ljubljana Airport is voluntary and self-paid. Testing is available to all passengers and all other members of the general public who require a test certificate. The airport operator Fraport Slovenija has concluded an agreement for performing the testing with a private service provider in Ljubljana, the Zdravje Institute of Health, and the laboratory diagnostics will be performed by the Respiratory Microbiology Laboratory at the Golnik Hospital for Pulmonary and Allergic Diseases.
The price for the PCR test (nasopharyngeal swab) at the airport is EUR 105, and for the antigen rapid test EUR 30 eur.
Tests must be ordered in advance at tel. +386 (0)1 436 81 93 from Monday to Thursday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., and on Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. When ordering tests individuals must give their first and last name, date of birth, address, KZZ number (9-digit code on their health insurance card) and contact email address and mobile number.
At the test site it will be required to show proof of payment, which is made at the information desk in the terminal. Currently, only payment via payment cards is accepted (Maestro, MasterCard, Visa, V Pay, Karanta and Diners).
It takes from four to six hours to receive the PCR test results, the report on the result will be bilingual (in Slovene and English) via email. If the result is positive, the National Institute of Public Health will be notified.
Swabs are taken in a separate area in the passenger terminal (entry from outside). Additional information is also available at the information desk in the passenger terminal.
By taking the test, passengers are informed about their current infection status. We recommend that all passengers travelling to other countries familiarise themselves with the current health requirements and regulations for entry to that country and to proceed in accordance therewith.
