Management

The everyday business of the company is directed by its senior management, one Managing Director and three Procurators with their respective areas.

Dr. Babett Stapel, who joined Fraport Slovenija, d.o.o., in 2016, became Co-Managing Director 1 July 2021 and sole Managing Director of Fraport Slovenija on 1 October 2021. She is responsible for more than 400 employees; Operations, Administration (IT, Procurement), Accounting & Finance, Planning & Controlling, Human Resources, Integrated Governance System, Commercial & Real Estate, Airline Management, Legal, Internal Audit, and Corporate Communications are directly reporting to her.

She joined Fraport AG in 1999 as an in-house lawyer and continued her career as an analyst and from 2004 to 2010 as the Head of Retail Strategy Department at Frankfurt Airport. In 2011 she became part of the Management Board of Lima Airport Partners S.R.L., Lima, Peru. Her board responsibility covered Human Resources, Image and Communication, and Management Systems. In 2016 she joined the Management Board of Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD in Varna, Bulgaria where she was responsible for Commercial and Aviation Activities. After a short stay in Bulgaria she took up her work at Fraport Slovenija, d.o.o., as Chief Finance, Administration and Commercial Office and Procurator.  

Babett Stapel is a lawyer (PhD) graduated from the University of Hamburg, Germany with a complementary education in business administration (MBA) from the University of Nottingham, England. Further studies abroad included research stays at McGill University in Montreal, Canada and University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, as well as a Diplomado in Internal Communication at the Universidad Del Pacífico, Lima, Perú. She finished her law studies after a two years legal clerkship in Hamburg, Germany, with the bar exam in 1998.    

Babett Stapel has more than twenty years of professional experience in the aviation industry, more than ten of them as a C-Level manager and seventeen with staff responsibility. She is certified ontological coach by the International Coaching School ASERSENTIDO, Chile-Peru. Her studies and work in different countries equipped her with extensive experience in airport management and of managing other cultures and environments.

Matic joined Fraport Slovenija in 2000, and has since then worked in various areas of ground handling and airport operations. Initial five years he strove to acquire comprehensive knowledge in the field of ground handling at Ljubljana Airport. As a turnaround coordinator and ground service equipment operator, he built the foundation that allowed him to know and understand all aspects of this complex process.

He later transitioned to Airport Operations, first as a Traffic Coordinator and in the next step took on the responsibilities of the Airport Duty Manager. In this role, he was responsible for ensuring continuous safe, efficient and orderly operation of the airport. Heading the workers' council has gained him valuable insight into the perspective of both employees and employer.

In early 2020, he took on the role of Assistant to COO, followed by being appointed as Head of Airport Supervision & Technology, where he actively contributed to the management of the recent health crisis and related measures. He also played a key role in overseeing the start-up of the new passenger terminal in 2021, and the centralization of operational staff planning in its department.

In early 2024 he has been appointed to the position of Operations Director.

Matic Perovic

Boštjan Šijanec joined Fraport Slovenija in 2010 as a lawyer. After almost 20 years in aviation, he took on the role of Infrastructure Director and procurator at the company, and is responsible for central infrastructure management, procurement, information technology, and relations with public-sector entities.

He graduated cum laude in law in 2004, and began his career at Slovenia’s Civil Aviation Administration. He was involved in setting up the civil aviation security system, and was later active in this field on EU working bodies. He then headed international legal affairs and standards in connection with aviation at the Ministry of Infrastructure until 2010. His career path then moved into business, as he took on the role of independently directing legal affairs at Fraport Slovenija, before becoming an advisor to the senior management. He earned an MBA at the University of Ljubljana’s economics faculty in 2013 and 2014.

His career experience has been expanded by taking on a role as vice-president of the board of directors of Adria Airways Tehnika from 2014 until its sale to a foreign investor, when he collaborated in the company’s restructuring. In addition to covering legal affairs at Fraport Slovenija, he has also been deeply involved in social dialogue at the company, in major infrastructure and commercial projects, and in the company’s transformation and development since coming under the wing of Fraport AG.

Andrej Svetina joined Fraport Slovenija in 2020 as a Head of Planning and Controlling and after one year also took over the function of Procurator.

Andrej Svetina graduated with a degree in Finance and Monetarism from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana. He started his career with Nova Ljubljanska banka in 1992, initially as an Account Officer in the Commercial Loan Department, and then working as a Senior Analyst in the area of Business Development and Strategic Planning. He also worked at Banka Slovenije, the Slovenian central bank, as a Senior Analyst covering Monetary Instruments. Since 2000 his career has been focused on accounting and finance within companies in the sports (Elan d.d.), pharmaceutical (GSK, formerly GlaxoSmithKline) and telecommunications (Iskratel d.o.o.) industries, where he held the positions of Chief Accountant. As CFO at Iskratel d.o.o. he was responsible for managing more than 50 people, covering finance and accounting, planning and controlling, IT, the Investment & Maintenance Department, and also for two years EMS sales, the Purchasing Department, HR and project management, including the coordination of all these functions within the Iskratel Group. He was also a director of ITH Fotovoltaika, a company with investments in three solar power plants with a combined production of power of 1.1 mW.

Andrej Svetina's professional experience has been enriched with his work as a member of the Supervisory Board at Nova Kreditna banka Maribor (until 2012), and a member of the Board of Directors in Iskrauraltel (a subsidiary of Iskratel d.o.o. operating in the Russian Federation).
