Ljubljana Airport’s flight network in the Winter Schedule will see some additions in the frequencies of flights offered, current announcements show.  Flydubai  will be upgrading its service from five weekly flights to a daily connection as of December 22. This will give passengers even more possibilities to travel to the United Arab Emirates and take advantage of a wide offer of connecting flights through the hub to all around the globe with flydubai’s codeshare partner on this route, Emirates.  Turkish Airlines  will be offering 12 weekly flights to Istanbul from February onwards (up from 10 weekly flights), this frequency being introduced in the low season for the first time since they started flying to Ljubljana. The morning flight will be available every day of the week and the evening five times weekly, enabling better connectivity for point to point travels and connecting flights, especially to the USA and Canada.

“After the strong traffic growth in the peak summer months we are very happy to see positive signals from the airlines to increase connectivity in the Winter Season. With flydubai introducing daily flights to Dubai, Turkish Airlines for the first time offering 12 weekly flights to Istanbul in the Winter Season, and other increases, passengers will have wider options to discover these destinations or use the hubs to continue their journey to all parts of the world,” said  Dr. Babett Stapel, the Managing Director of Fraport Slovenija.

In the peak of the Summer Season strong passenger traffic growth was recorded. In August more than 122.000 passengers travelled through Ljubljana Airport, which is 68  % more than in the same month of 2021. Altogether almost 631.000 passengers have been handled from January to August, three  times more than in the same period last year. It is expected for the passenger numbers to stay around 120.000 in September, supported by continuing lively charter traffic, which in August represented 23% of passenger traffic. Especially in high Summer Season the number of passengers were above expectations, thus allowing us to hopefully exceed the planned yearly number at the end of 2022 (880.000 passengers). This would mean passenger traffic at Ljubljana Airport would be at least doubled compared to 2021, coming closer to handling  a million passengers.
