New mobile electrical ground power units and charging station for electric vehicles

In December 2025 and January 2026, we reached several important milestones within the Fraport Slovenia for e-FUTURE (FS-e-FUTURE) project. The project aims to install key infrastructure to support the electrification and decarbonisation of our ground handling services at Ljubljana Airport by the end of 2026. During last two months, we completed the construction of the new transformer station TP-4, acquired mobile electrical ground power units for external aircraft power supply, and commissioned a charging station for electric vehicles.

Completion of the TP-4 station

At the end of December 2025, construction of the new transformer station TP-4 was completed and the facility was connected to the grid. The new substation is essential for ensuring sufficient electrical capacity to charge the electric vehicle fleet and power other ground handling equipment.

Charging station for electric vehicles commissioned

In the final week of January 2026, we commissioned a charging station for electric vehicles, including a fast DC charger that enables simultaneous fast charging of two vehicles. In addition, 20 smart AC charging stations and 15 connection points for vehicles with built-in chargers have been installed in the aircraft maintenance hangar.

First mobile electric GPUs acquired

At the end of 2025, we also received the first three mobile electric ground power units (GPUs) for external aircraft power supply. Equipped with an industrial-grade, high-performance battery pack,  these units are designed as a zero-emission replacement for diesel ground power generators. They provide reliable electrical power to aircraft parked at positions without fixed GPUs.
